Explore the stunning calm waters of Hood Canal and surrounding Pacific Northwest waterways in one of our premium kayaks or canoes. We carry single, tandem, and touring kayaks suited for beginners through experienced paddlers. Hood Canal's protected waters make it one of the best paddling destinations in Washington State.

Perfect for solo adventurers, couples, families with kids, and groups. No experience required — our calm-water location is ideal for first-timers. Experienced paddlers will appreciate our touring kayak options for longer Hood Canal explorations.

Seasonal Availability

Water sport rentals peak from May through September when Hood Canal is at its warmest and calmest. We also rent in spring and fall for experienced paddlers. Check current conditions when booking during shoulder seasons.

Safety Information

Always wear your life vest — it is required and non-negotiable on all our water rentals.
Check Hood Canal tide charts before paddling — tidal currents can be significant.
Stay within your skill level and avoid open water crossings without experience.
Let someone know your float plan — destination, route, and expected return time.
Return before dark — we do not rent for night paddling.

Hood Canal Watercraft Safety

Safety Requirements — All Renters

  • Coast Guard-approved PFD must be worn at all times while on or near the water
  • Paddle leash required at all times
  • Whistle must be attached to your PFD
  • Dry bag with emergency instructions required
  • Waterproof map card required
  • Mandatory safety briefing required before launch
  • No rentals if sustained wind exceeds 10–12 mph
  • No rentals if Small Craft Advisory is issued
  • No rentals if thunderstorms are forecast
  • No rentals if visibility is poor
  • No rentals if staff determines launch/recovery conditions are unsafe
  • No use while impaired

Required Acknowledgement at Rental

"I understand Hood Canal paddling involves wind, tide/current, cold-water shock, drowning, impact, separation from equipment, weather change, and rescue risks. I agree to wear a Coast Guard-approved PFD at all times, use required safety equipment, stay within approved route boundaries, follow staff safety instructions, and return immediately if conditions become unsafe."

Do I need kayaking experience?

Not at all. Hood Canal is calm and protected — perfect for beginners. We provide a paddling orientation for all first-timers.

Can children kayak?

Yes! We have tandem kayaks perfect for a parent-child experience. Children must wear properly fitted life vests at all times.
